Opening of Mudgee Campaign Office
Mayor Des Kennedy to open Mathew Dickerson’s campaign office in Mudgee
On Thursday 20 December, the Mudgee campaign office of independent candidate, Mathew Dickerson, will be officially opened. Local Elder Aleshia Lonsdale will welcome guests to Country before Mayor of Mid-Western Regional Council, Councillor Des Kennedy, officially opens the Mudgee Campaign office.
This will be the fourth campaign office for Mathew Dickerson with offices already opened in Wellington, Dubbo and Narromine. The opening of the Mudgee office aligns with Mr Dickerson’s strategy of ensuring that he reaches across the entire electorate.
With half of the population in the electorate based in Dubbo, it would be very easy for a candidate to focus just on Dubbo. On 22 May when Mr Dickerson made his announcement, he made a commitment to visit all 131 localities across the electorate and to be the voice of the entire electorate. Having multiple campaign offices in the electorate helps to demonstrate that commitment.
“I have visited localities across the entire electorate and I have already spoken with people in most of the 74 localities in the Mid-Western Regional Council area. From Fiona in Ullamalla to Jean in Tallawang; from Merri in Riverlea to Betty in Goolma; Val in Apple Tree Flat; Bob in Piambong; Max in Frog Rock and Roy in Kains Flat. Every individual person in every part of the electorate is important to me and deserves to be heard. To be an effective voice you need to listen to people across the electorate,” Mr Dickerson said.
“I have also held multiple meetings with all Mayors and Council GMs in the electorate to further understand their needs and I am honoured that Mayor Des Kennedy will be cutting the ribbon at my opening.”
Elder Aleshia Lonsdale said, “For a State Member to be successful, he or she needs to be aware of the history in the region and show respect to that region. Mathew has continually demonstrated he cares about people in the Mudgee region and respects our history. I will be honoured to perform a Welcome to Country at the opening.”
